"I didn't know who Ron Paul was until last week," John, who prefers the nickname "Top" said. "We met Nancy at the booth out at the swap meet at here last Saturday where they had a booth with material about Ron Paul. Once she started telling me about him, I realized he stands for all the things I do and he's against all the things I am." Top is a retired Marine and he and Diane are very involved in the Run For The Wall, an annual motorcycle run dedicated to: To promote healing among ALL veterans and their families and friends, to call for an accounting of all Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action (POW/MIA), to honor the (Pictured L-R: Diane Desherow, Top Desherow, Donna Paul, Nancy Falster, Wayne Paul) It wasn't surprising that there were a number of retired military men and women at the event. Ron Paul has the strongest support from the military than any other candidate. He has also amassed tremendous grassroots support that helped him raise 1.2 million dollars for his campaign in just 6 days. Karl noted that the average donation was $40.00 per person. "In a day of corporate corruption, extortion, and huge sums of illegal foreign campaign contributions," he said, "thousands of moms, pops and their offspring gave over a million dollars to a man pledged to put their nation back ont he road to prosperity through the re-establishment of the U.S. Constitution as the law of the land." About thirty people attended the event, including Dr. Paul's brother, Wayne and his wife, Donna. They came from Avinger, Texas to talk a little about the personal side of Dr. Ron Paul. "He was always a student," Wayne said. "He read economics and believed that people should be left alone when it comes to their finances."
Donna seconded her husband's endorsement saying, "In the years I worked for him (12) I gained respect for him as a gentle and kind physician. Since then, I have gained respect for him as a statesman. A politician worries about the next election. A statesman worries about what we are leaving for the next generation." Part of the evening included a raffle for a signed copy of Ron Paul's book "A Foreign Policy Of Freedom" For more information about Ron Paul's campaign visit his campaign Website To see his official congressional site click HERE
