Rural American Idol Competition

Rural American Idol challengers are set for a showdown at the Cotton Pickin’ Theatre on Saturday, April 24th. A group of new promising vocalists will compete for placement in the finals on November 24th. The Shindig Band will be in full support of the performers.

Scheduled to compete in Division I are Katia Rojo of Emory and Morgan Woodward of Greenville; in Division 2, Crissy Harold of McKinney and Victoria Ecker of Garland; and in Division3, Sandy Dean of Canton and Amanda Pruitt of Alba.

Adding a sparkle to the Rural American Music Extravaganza is the appearance of Brenda Akins Martin, 2008 Rural American Idol Division3 winner. Also to be featured is another Rural Idol talent, singer/songwriter Tom Akins.
Pursuing their mission to promote Rural American art, the P.O.I.N.T. organization continues to search for amateur talent pursuing their singing career. The Rural American Idol Contest, presented by the organization of People Organizing Ideal Neighborhoods Today, Inc.(P.O.I.N.T., Inc.), is now on its 8th year. A $1000 cash prize will be awarded to the overall winner who will take the title 2010 Rural American Idol.
