NEW SIGNS FOR WINNSBORO

New "Welcome to Winnsboro" signs were recently installed on three entry points to the city. One on Highway 11 west near Hardy's Auto Parts, one on Highway 11 east near Keller's Creamery, and the third on Highway 37 south.

The signs were paid for by a grant from TxDOT and were made and installed by Jeb Sales.

The Sesquicentennial Team was the catalyst for the sign with Sue Hamm, Bob Hibbard, Ronny Knight, Carolyn Jones, Denise Miranda and Georgia Lange Moore comprising the Team.  "And what a team it was," says Carolyn Jones.  "We accomplished a lot by working together and you could say we really persevered to see this part of the project completed."

It took quite some time after the Sesquicentennial for the grant to come through, as well as final decisions to be made about size and colors of letters, but the wait has been worth it, according to Jones. "We had complaints from people that they couldn't see the signs. Especially the one on Highway 11 east," she said. "You can see it now."
