Teen Police Academy
A Teen Police Academy will be offered by the Greenville, Texas Police Department the week of July 26 through July 30 for student's grades 9–12 (2010-2011 school year), who may be interested in learning more about a career in law enforcement. The program will meet from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Police and Courts Building located at 3000 Lee Street. Participants will be able to put what they learn into action by working a mock crime scene and using their new skills and knowledge to solve the crime. The Teen Police Academy is free and the class size is limited to 30 students. Applications are available online at www.ci.greenville.tx.us
Free Meals For Children in East Texas City
A free summer meal program for children is being provided by the Sulphur Springs ISD at the Lamar Elementary School cafeteria. Free breakfast will be served from 7:45 – 8:30 and lunch will be served from 10:45 to12:30 for any child between the age of 1 and 18. There is no paperwork, enrollment or application necessary. The program runs Monday through Thursday July 15.

Recycle Old Cell Phones
The Blessing Box, affiliated with Central Christian Church in Winnsboro, is now collecting unwanted cell phones for recycling. There is a program that will donate a small amount for each cell phone recycled and any proceeds received will be used for The Blessing Box's School Supply Assistance fund for this coming fall. Grants Available For Renewable Energy Sources
USDA Rural Development will accept applications for Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grants and loans until 4:30pm CST on June 30, 2010. All applications should be mailed to Business Programs, 101 S Main St, Suite 102, Temple, TX 76501. 1-800-525-5555. This number can be called for emergency assistance when ever you have trouble while in your car. The service is state operated and paid for with tax dollars. When stranded, just call the number and a state trooper will be contacted to assist you.
