Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

Caring for Kids, the child abuse prevention program of the Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center, is offering a support group for grandparents raising grandchildren.

Meetings will begin Thursday October 8, 10:00 AM at The Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center, located on the State Hwy 37 N. between Winnsboro and Quitman.

According to Program Director Imelda Tatsch, “Being a parent is one of most challenging jobs in the world. Raising your grandchildren can be especially demanding even overwhelming. We may have doubts about how we are doing from time to time.”

Concerns can come from feeling unsure about how to discipline children, stress from personal or work situations, doubts about being able to control anger, or not knowing where to get help about parenting.

The population of grandparents raising grandchildren is growing. If you are one of the 6 million households now raising your children’s children and would like to have a place to meet with others experiencing similar situations please contact Imelda Tatsch at 903-629-2114
